Unit 1: Personal & Public Identities
Who am I?

​Interpretive:

  • I can recognize the difference between a question and a statement.

  • I can understand questions about how old I am, where I live, what I do in my free time, my likes and dislikes, etc.

  • I can understand the main idea of a conversation about me.

  • I can understand some facts from biographical texts and clips about others. 

 

Presentational:

  • I can introduce myself, say what I look like and what I am like. 

  • I can tell/describe my favorite free-time and school activities and those I don’t like.

Interpersonal:

  • I can have a conversation with someone I meet. 

  • I can ask for and give biographical information like name, age, nationality. 

  • I can ask for and give preferences about objects, hobbies and activities. 

  • I can ask for and say a home address, email address and phone number.

Unit 2: Family & Friendship
How are we connected to others?

​Interpretive:

  • I can understand clips and texts about families and pets.

  • I can understand clips and texts describing people and relationships.

  • I can understand questions and statements about friends, family and pets.

 

Presentational:

  • I can describe family members and friends, including physical and biographical information, their relationships to me, and what they like to do.

  • I can talk about and describe people and animals based on photos.

  • I can talk about others’ likes and dislikes.

  • I can write about an animal I have learned about.

  • I can develop and respond to a simple questionnaire or survey about people’s likes and dislikes.

Interpersonal:

  • I can ask and talk about the members of my family and their characteristics.

  • I can say something about friends or classmates.

  • I can ask and answer questions related to animals.

  • I can ask who, what, when, where questions.

Unit 3: Healthy Lifestyle
What is a balanced lifestyle?

  • I can understand someone talking about activities and foods.

  • I can understand the main idea of a PSA.

  • I can read and understand texts about how often people do certain activities.

  • I can read about a health issue and understand the main idea.

  • I can understand healthy nutritional categories.

  • I can understand short, simple descriptions with the help of pictures or graphs.

 

Presentational:

  • I can share information about how I spend my day with regard to healthy behaviors and food choices using pictures or photos.

  • I can describe a dish, meal and or activity that is healthy or unhealthy.

  • I can state my favorite foods and drinks and those I don’t like.

Interpersonal:

  • I can exchange information about my activities and food choices and preferences.

  • I can ask and answer questions about familiar nutritional information.

  • I can ask for and give advice on issues related to a healthy lifestyle.

  • I can comment on school lunches around the world.

  • I can comment on and respond to questions about pictures related to a healthy lifestyle (with numbers or statistics).

Unit 4: Vacation Time
